Three ways to issue money back on a credit card

There are three ways to put money back into a credit card:

  • Void:  This can be done on a transaction before it has settled. If a transaction was run on any given day, a void can be done to cancel the payment so that it does not go through to settlement.
  • Refund:  This can be done for a transaction after it has settled. If a transaction was run on any given day, and that day has batched out and settled (our system does this automatically at midnight), a transaction can be refunded to put money back on the card.
  • Blind credit: A blind credit can be issued to a card when there was NO original transaction. This simply means that you can put money on someone’s card.

All of these can be done via the virtual terminal under the “Payments” tab, there is a sub-tab for each transaction type. This can also be done via the API using the directions described in our API documents.
